Alan W. Scheflin

Alan Scheflin graduated from the University of Virginia in 1963 and received a J.D. from George Washington University School of Law in 1996. In 1967 he received an LLM from Harvard University Law School and an M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Santa Clara University in 1987. He has been a professor of Law at Santa Clara since 1979. Mr. Scheflin has been an active member of the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis and received several awards from that organization.

Mr. Scheflin has an extensive list of publications and presentations. He has been an invited speaker at numerous meetings of professional groups including the American Psychological Association and American Society of Clinical Hypnosis, and at conferences involving the treatment and prevention of ritual and cult abuse. He was a keynote speaker at the 1997 joint session of the 1997 Annual Meeting of the International Society for the Study of Dissociation and the 13th Annual Meeting of the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies in Montreal. In 1991, he received the Manfred S. Guttmacher Award from the American Psychiatric Association for his book, Trance on Trial. Listed below are just a few of his publications:
